I have severe swelling in both testitals doubled in size and painful. Im 66 now when I was 39 and again at 41 years of age i had Ephiditimaitas ( Wrong Spelling Probably) I was hospitalized back then Im putting ice on them but pain still there the swelling goes down then back up again. What action should I take Emergency room ? My primary care is the VA but that takes forever ? Thanks
Hello and welcome to HCM, Swelling and pain in both testis with a previous history of epididymitis raises the possibility of recurrence of epididymitis. Epididymitis is a structure formed by coiling up of vas deferens or the tube which carries the sperms. Most common cause of epididymitis are bacterial infections or sexually transmitted infections. (STI) Treatment for epididymitis is primarily with antibiotics. pain killers, anti-inflammatory drugs, application of cold packs to scrotum and elevation of scrotum. However, a clinical assessment is required to confirm the diagnosis of epididymitis. In case the condition is confirmed to be due to epididymitis, you need to abstain from unprotected sex and to treat STI if any since STI is the most common cause of epididymitis.
