What Causes Swelling And Pain On One Side Of Face?
My twelve year old daughter woke me up at 4:00am with her right side of face swollen and hurting she has had s cough and drainage. I took her to ER and was told it was swollen parotid gland it has gotten bigger and she wasn't givin anything but Motrin. Dies this sound right ?

It is possible that it is related to a swollen parotid gland.
This may become enlarged due to blockage of the duct or infection.
Infection would normally be associated with fever and other systemic symptoms.
If these are not present then infection is less likely.
You may want to take her for reassessment.
