What Causes Swelling And Ringing In Ears In Case Of Otitis Externa?

otitis externa
My ear started hurting sunday. I went to an urgent care facility tuesday evening. The MD diagnosed me with otitis externa and gave me abx drops with hydrocortisone. 4 drops BID. I began the rx yesterday. I have intermittent sharp pain, persistent tinnitus, and my ear feels more swollen, and i have intermittent deafness in it. Do I need to give the gtts more time to work before going back to an MD or is this swelling and ringing of urgent concern?

Hi,
It seems that you might be having acute otitis externa.
Only ear drops might not be helpful and you may require one course of antibiotic medicine for 3-5 days.
Ok and take care.
