What Causes Swelling And Small Blisters On Vagina After Having Sex?

hello, I have been given a vaginal probe after all the problems I have had with incontenence. I am only 21, however when i used it on my own for the first time i put a bit of lube on it and forced it in and it really hurt me and stunk, felt like i burnt the side of my vagina. anyways tonight my boyfriend looked at my vagina for me after having sex because i was in pain, he said its red and seems slightly swollen with a small blister. Could that be friction?
