What Causes Swelling And Soreness In Lymph Nodes Of The Neck?
Hi, I m 63, female and for just over 4 weeks have had persistent swelling and soreness swallowing in left upper neck lymph nodes; accompanying symptom is dull daily lower right abdominal discomfort. I saw a doctor who said to ignore the symptoms in my throat, but I didn t mention the tummy. I have no fever or night sweats or weight loss. What might me at issue--can t tell from web searches, and what at home can I do to clear symptoms?
Neck lymph nodes are usually enlarged due to local infection. These nodal swellings usually take time to resolve completely even after clearance of infection. Advice 1. Hot fomentation with slight warm water every 6 hours 2. Cefixime 100 mg every 12 hours per oral daily for 7 days 3. Albendazole 400 mg daily per oral empty stomach in the morning for 3 days 4. Ibuprofen 600 mg per oral after meal if pain occurs 5. For abdominal discomfort get done ultrasound of abdomen including pelvis to diagnose cause If after 7 days course of cefixime, your neck swelling does not resolve then a. get done Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) of lymph node b.
