What Causes Swelling And Spasms In The Calf?

I have a number of conditions which require medications and apparently the inreracrion is causing even more problems. Firsst, high blood pressure which I need to monitor because diuretics and RLS med (mirapex) also lower it and at times has beeb way to low. I have neuropathy, severe lymphedema, for which I need elevation as the only means to eliminate the excess fluid. I am taking magnesium to counteract Charley Horses during the night and it has relived the cramping, but now my big concern is that my calf muscles, especially the right calf, has been in a constant state of contraction for at least a month. It is very swollen, hard as a rock, and very tender to the touch, but no pain otherwise. What coould be causing this and is there anything I can do about it?

the constant cramp could be because of electrolyte imbalance and chronic swelling. also if its just affecting one side then I would suggest you get a venous doppler to rule out a clot, if that is normal then recommend you start physical therapy to get some type of mobility in your ankle joint which would help the calf pump to circulate fluid in your legs. Medication can only help so much but attempt at physical therapy or just plain activity should help
