Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling And Stinging Sensation On Lips?
I felt stinging sensation in my top lip then it swelled up. Lasted for about half hour and went away. Several hours later it happened again but on my bottom lip and my chin and cheek feel slightly numb. I have not eaten anything out of ordinary and no bites
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems like allergic reaction to something causing allergic Angioedema and recurring swelling seems to be caused due to it.. It can be due to a number of common things like foods or medicine, animal danders, pollen, sea food or even other things.. You should take anti allergics like Levocetrizine or Benadryl for relief.. If there are recurring episodes consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can do allergic testing like RAST TEST, food challenge test etc to rule out the exact cause of allergic reaction and also advise you to prevent exposure to allergen as well as give you Immunotherapy for reducing the severity of allergy symptoms..
Hope this information helps.
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
