What Causes Swelling And Tenderness Around An Injection Site?
Hello, my child 3 years old was given a flu shot in her doctor office two days ago on her right thigh, she has swelling, tenderness to the touch, warn to the touch and also irritation on the site of the shot. Is t an allergic reaction or is it common, How can i comfort her?

As per your query your child have symptoms of swelling and tenderness around an injection site which seems to be due to thrombophlebitis i.e infection of vein and insertion injury. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to - Give proper rest to child. - Elevate limb and apply ice on it. - Give proper course of painkiller i.e Ibuprofen. If swelling and pain does not improve and there are symptoms of pus and fever then you should consult pediatrician immediately and get it examined an start treatment accordingly.
