What Causes Swelling And Tenderness In The Penis After Taking Cipro?

I am wondering the side effects of Cipro. My husband is having some issues and had been on Cipro for 3 days and noticed some swelling and tenderness in his penis area. We are very concerned and I plan on calling the Dr. in the A.M. to ge thim in. Could this be a side effect of this medication?

Hello,

Cipro has no side effects that can cause swelling or tenderness of the penis. Swelling & tenderness of the penis can be indicative of STI. Get him physically examined & all STD tests done to be on the safer side.
He may need antibiotics or antivirals.

Such symptoms can also be due to rough sex without lubrication. Other reasons are Urethritis, Balanitis, etc.

He can apply a topical antifungal, antibiotic ointment for relieve. Avoid the use of strong soaps, spermicidal gels, condoms & sex for a couple of days.

Avoid multiple partners & always have protective sex.
