What Causes Swelling And Tenderness On The Left Side Of The Neck?

My neck is swollen and tender on the left side. It came on suddenly this evening. I was given a double injection of Cimzia this morning. I have had this done 5 times in the past and nothing happened. It is now going down a bit but I am still concerned about waiting till tomorrow to call my Dr. Can I wait till then. Help.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a local inflammation or swollen lymph node.

As of now you can use analgesics/anti inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/seratiopeptdase for symptomatic relief.

You can also start a short course of antibiotics preferably amoxclav.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. In that case an ultrasound scan is required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
