What Causes Swelling And Tingling On The Tongue And Face After Taking Neurontin?
I took1600 mg of neurontin 2 hours ago my tongue is swelled and burning my face Is tingling, I m very weak and I can t even get up and walk it s doing nothing for the pain especially in my legs please tell me what I can do , I take 15 mg of morphine twice a day and I ve been out for 7 days and I can t fill my prescription until the 30th I ran short this month because I fell and was taking 3 a day because the pain was worse than usual because of my fall
Taking of Neurontin can cause swelling of hands and feet, muscle weakness and difficulty in the coordination of movements. However, swelling of the tongue is a medical emergency as it can occur due to drug allergy, and can even cause breathing difficulty. I would firmly suggest you go to the ER, or contact the prescribing physician at the earliest. In addition, avoid taking the next dose of the medication as it can cause a further increase in tongue swelling and other side effects that you are experiencing at the moment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef,
General & Family Physician
