What Causes Swelling Around The Navel?

There is a change in the belly button from normal. I am 43 yrs old and my weight is 110kgs. Tough I do not have pain. I can feel the change. This all evolved very recent. Is this matter of concern. Because the bulg is soft and swollen but internal and not external. Do I need to consult a Physician? If so whom?

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
The bulge in umbilical region you have can be umbilical hernis.... caused by weak abdominal muscles.
Though it is not paiful &soft... it may get more severe symptoms....before that you shouldcinsult a surgeon.. getthroufhly examined/investgated..to pin point the cause.
This would be followed by cause specific treatment.
Till then you should avoid raised abdominal pressure (straing), Do not massage or foment the swelling till you Meet the specialist.Eat light &easily digestable food..try to have easy defication.
Thanks.
