What Causes Swelling Behind The Ears While On Medrol?
I have been taking medrol 8mg in a series of 6tabs for 3 days,5for3,4 for3, 3for3, 2for3,and1for3. I have leukocytoclastic vasculitis and was having alot of pain. I am at the end of the above regime for the second time in 6 weeks without much trouble until I began to swell under my earlobes and jaw. I was seen today at urgent care and the MD wasn t concerned in fact thought I was too sensitive about it. Tonight the swelling is behind my ears and also further down my jaw and neck as well as below earlobes. Can this be caused from the medrol? I know I wrote alot but felt to give you background. Thanks
Hello, This would not be caused by the medrol. It is concerning for infection. If the swollen areas are hot, red and tender then you need to see another doctor for another opinion. If it is not hot and red then it could be just swollen lymph nodes that occur when you are tying to fight off an infection of in an autoimmune condition like the vasculitis. If it persists then see the doctor that is treating your vasculitis, not an urgent care doctor Regards
