Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In Ankle And Feet After Travelling?
I just returned from a two week trip abroad, and after arriving in the U.S., I noticed that my ankles and feet are very swollen. I have tried to elevate my legs and rest, but two days later and my ankles and feet are still very swollen. I have had breast cancer about 17 years ago and am worried that this may be lymphadema.
Hi, if i were your treating doctor then i would suggest 1) Need not panic, as this condition occurs due to prolonged standing or sitting in same posture for long time. 2) foot end elevation and compression stocking would be of great help. 3) Your cancer doesn't have anything to relate with your leg swelling. Advice 1)try compression stocking which would help a lot. 2) If there is any color change around the ankle then consult your physician, as it is related to blood stagnation around the ankle. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
