What Causes Swelling In Cheeks Along With Stone In Parotid Gland?
What can I do if have a salivary gland infections? I started having this issue since 2011 went to the EENT specialist and told me that I have stone in the perodit gland. It comes and goes but lately it's bothering me. Sometimes my cheek swells and feels hard, then goes away. Is there anything that I need to be worried about? I had a CAT scan done in 2011 that's how they found out about the tiny stone. The doctor advised me that it will go away or let mother nature heals butitPlease help. Thank you very much.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... As you have stone in salivary gland duct, Swelling in cheeks in you should be because of obstruction in salivary flow causing retention of salivary secretions in gland causing swelling. Infection in salivary glands is less probable. Salivary duct stones are masses of crystallized minerals that form in salivary duct. Bacterial infections can occur when the gland is filled with stagnant saliva. Signs of an infection include fever, a foul taste in your mouth, and redness over the affected area. Your dentist might be able move the stone by applying heat and gently massaging the affected area. Otherwise removal of salivary duct stone is needed to be removed to prevent swelling
