What Causes Swelling In Face And Ankles?

My moms face is swollen down to front of throat. Swollen ankles on both feet and ankles and just had all toes removed on right foot we still have no reason why her toes with no explaination She also had a stone removed from her salivary gland. She is taking synthroid 112mg. I am very concerned. Any ideas docs?
