What Causes Swelling In Knee Along With Pain While Walking?
I stepped down from a step and something inside my knee popped like a rubber band and pain. Its very hard to walk and cant straighten my knee at all. Not constant pain just when I walk and or stand on it cant straighten knee. Swollen and have kept ice on and off.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling in knee along with pain while walking. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like Chondromalacia, Bursitis, Patellar Tendonitis, Arthritis, Osteochondritis, Torn Meniscus or baker's cyst . I would suggest you to consult an Orthopedician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, CT Scan , blood tests, Electromyogram etc as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.Doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory painkillers, muscle relaxants, allopurinol , warm or cool compresses depending upon the cause, physiotherapy to relieve and strengthen the muscles, weight loss and doctor may also prescribe nerve supplement or surgery in severe case . Doctor may recommend surgical removal of cyst . For now take proper rest for few days and do not walk , keep your leg elevated while laying down , take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and lower your salt consumption.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
