I suggest you to consult a general medicine physician your husband seems to have hypoprotenemia causing swelling it may be because of dietary deficiency diabetic nephropathy leading to loss of albumin in urine i suggest you to have strict control of diabetes and get serum creatinine and LFT including serum albumin and total protein test done Hope this guides you.
