What Causes Swelling In Lips And Thumb Along With Soreness And Itching Sensation?

My son (10) went to bed with swollen lips, they look better now but this morning one of his thumbs is swollen, sore and itchy... I know it sounds like an allergic reaction, he has no history of allergy problems, should we bring him to the Doctor, no complaints of throat soreness or trouble breathing, just concerned it could come about, thank you

HELLO,
i can understand your concern.
based on the history of swelling,itchiness you have given, this most probably appears as a hypersensitivity reaction. this can be due to allergic food or any other thing or can also be due to an insect bite.
i assume that your son seems to be stable(all the vital parameters like respiration,pulse,bp) other than the symptoms you have mentioned, this doesnt appear to be an emergency.
nonetheless an examination by a doctor is essential with all the vital parameters monitored.
drugs like antihistamines such as avil and a steroid like hydrocortisone or prednisolone has to be given. these are prescription medications.
