What Causes Swelling In Little Finger Along With Bruising?

Two weeks ago I dislocated my pinky and a doctor had to put it back in place. The doctor said I had a piece of calloused bone separated from the rest of my bones sitting in my pinky when he looked at my xrays. I noticed a red spot on the palm side of my pinky right below my middle knuckle that was painful to touch and slightly raised in the hopsital that night. My pinky is still swollen and the knuckles and the left side of my hand is still bruised. I can t move it yet. Should I be worried about that little bump or the fact that I still can t bend my finger?

Hello and welcome.

The red spot could be a result of the trauma you experienced. You should not be moving your finger for a while and so there is no real cause for concern if you cannot move it for a while.

Discuss in detail the X-ray and the things you can expect with your doctor. As long as the discoloration can be prevented and there is no nerve entrapment, I do not see any cause for concern.

Best wishes.
