What Causes Swelling In Lower Legs With Painful Dark Spots?
Hi, In May, my lower right leg swelled up bad then it moved to the left leg; then my right lower leg (right above the ankle) had dark above the skin spots come up that were painful to touch. Then we noticed that it appeared as if I had holes in my leg where these spots originated. Most of them disappeared; however, I have two that developed into ulcers (the worse one is 2 X 1 and deep. I am going to the wound clinic but the spots is a mystery to all of us. The pain has been awful.
Let me tell you that the symptoms described by you suggest that you have a sebaceous cyst. You can better send me a photo of the dark spot on reports in order to better evaluate it. I would suggest taking antibiotics such as co-amoxiclav 625mg for 5 days. I also suggest neomycin ointment apply locally.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
