What Causes Swelling In Penis Post Open Inguinal Hernia Surgery?
My boyfriend had an open inguinal hernia surgery a month ago. The past few days he s been complaining of his penis swelling. Today he says when he went to the bathroom the swelling was causing his urine to come out sideways. I m worried it s gonna cut off his urethra and he doesn t want to go to the er. What could be causing this?
Usually the surgeon prefers to make patient wear scrotal support to prevent swelling of testicles after surgery of open hernia repair. There can be tightness around the root of penis which can compress, the venous return of penis and cause swelling in penis. Kindly show up him to his surgeon for further medicine support and if at all there is scrotal support, he must make it loose at present. Convey him to drink plenty of liquids to prevent secondary bacterial infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
