Hi my sister has a large swelling in her stomach, left hand side from belly button to under boob, tests have shown a clot on her liver and lesions, is she at risk of cancer? I ve lost 1 sister to cancer, They are doing an MRI but it s been cancelled twice as they can t fit an iv lead? Her veins are collapsing. How serious could this be please? Thank you
Yes, this is a serious condition. The way you are describing her swelling, possibility of cancerous growth in the intestine or in the spleen or left kidney is more likely. So CT scan or MRI or ultrasound is must identify the pathology. If MRI is not possible, get done ultrasound abdomen. Ultrasound is a simple procedure. It will also helpful in determining if it is cancer or not.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
