Hello,
Though it is reassuring that the swelling is getting better, with your history of cancer, I would be concerned about a possible blood clot in your leg could be causing the swelling in your ankle. Especially if you have any pain in your calf muscle or swelling in your leg above the ankle, I would suggest having it checked with an
ultrasound to make sure there is no clot, because a blood clot might break off and go to your lung, causing problems with your breathing, sometimes serious.
If it is not a blood clot, another possibility would be a
gout attack, which can affect the ankle, usually causes swelling,
redness, and intense pain over the joint, and typically last a few days to a few weeks. It is usually diagnosed by taking some of the fluid out from the joint and looking at it with a microscope, or later they can do a
blood test to check your uric acid level to see if it is high.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
