What Causes Swelling In The Ankles After A Leg Injury?
I recently fell and tripped over my feet and ever since then my feet and ankles have been swollen. Also, I have a red rash on the front of my calves. I do have high blood pressure and have had a heart attack a couple of years ago. I also have been very fatigued.
Hello, Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic! I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns. The symptoms you have mentioned suggestive of sprained ankle. you don't need to worry regarding this as it can be well managed by conservative measures. you can take analgesics like ibuprofen or diclofenac for pain. Apply ice packs over the affected area to reduce pain and swelling. Immobilize the affected limb for couple of weeks preferably in a brace. Keepm the affected foot elevated by keeping it over a pillow. Most cases subside with in two weeks with these measures, if symptoms persist despite all these , consult an orthopedic and get an MRI scan done. Wishing you good health Regards Dr Shinas
