Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend was rushed to hospital with swelling on the brain causing incoherent speech ....scan results are awaited but is it likely to be a cancerous tumour? Prostate cancer was treated severs, years ago....my friend is fit and healthy, this is a real shock. Can the swelling now reduced ( my friend has been released from hospital pending scan results dud next week) be something less serious than cancer.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Possibility of midline shift due to brain metastases is more likely. Prostate cancer is known to cause spread of cancer in brain. So brain metastases is more likely in your friend 's case. Brain Mets cause pressure effect in brain and this leads to midline shift and all the symptoms. Radiotherapy to brain is the trauma for this. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your friend. Thanks.
