Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In The Eyes And Face After Taking Crestor?
I ve been taking Crestor, 10 mg, for about 1 month. I m very sensitive to salt. If I have too much, I can see it in my face and eyes. Have really notice huge bags under my eyes and just feeling all over puffiness in my face. Could it be the Crestor?
Crestor does not seem to be a likely cause for your symptoms. Although it may cause angioedema which presents as swelling, this type of reaction is very rare and we usually first consider other potential causes.
Besides that angioedema serious enough to cause puffiness all over the face usually also causes respiratory discomfort, breathlessness, etc.
In patients like you I usually check the serum albumin levels to make sure there are no problems with it.
Low serum albumin (due to renal leakage of albumin) may cause swelling in the face and puffy eyes when getting up in the morning.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
