What Causes Swelling In The Eyes While Going Through Menopause?

Hi, I m a hypothyroid 50 year old female. I ve been on my medication for years and I ve always have been very good with check-ups & refilling my prescriptions. However, the past two weeks I didn t fill my script. I ve been in transition of starting with a new company and my focus wasn t on getting my medication. I m back on and its day two, but the last couple days I haven t felt right. Especially in my eyes. They are swollen & bulging a little. Is this a side affect? I m also going through menopause and experiencing a lot of heat. Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The puffiness of eyes can be most likely due to alteration in thyroid hormone levels along with hormone changes of menopause.

A close observation of the swelling with urine output and control of thyroid hormone level is mandatory with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
