My mom had a angiogram done two weeks ago in the groin area. They used an electric razor on the area. Now her right foot keeps swelling and has a red tint to her foot. She was put in the hospital and given antibiotics then released. Follow up visit foot swelling was down on Thursday and doctor kept her antibiotics by Sunday she was swollen again and very uncomfortable. She went to primary doctor and she put her back on hospital. They have rain blood work. Still Doctors are puzzled and don t know why. Any insight?

Complications of angiogram are usually local, and any swelling due to infection or hematoma (blood collection) is seen at the groin.

Having an angiogram suggests she had a problem with her leg arterial system. You may check the angiogram results, there might be ischemia, which means insufficient blood reaching the foot. This might be a cause for infection.

The picture you describe is suggestive of either infection (cellulitis) or less likely allergic reaction. Another possibility is phlebitis (inflammation of the superficial veins). However certain diagnosis requires physical examination.

Best wishes.
