What Causes Swelling In The Feet, Hands And Lips?

My sister has had swelling in her feet, hands, face and lips. Also, she has been wheezing. Her doctor said her lungs are clear and gave her a water pill. Her breathing is bad whenever she exerts herself at all, but it s better at night. It must not be heart problems, but what is it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms of swellings follow chronic breathing problems(var pulmonary due to involvement of heart). Please get checked by a cardiologist along with a chest physician for specific advice.

Avoid physical exertion. Use inhalers as advised &include cardiologist's advice if needful.

Regular respiratory exercises & avoiding exposure to allergens help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
