What Causes Swelling In The Forehead After An Injury?

Hello, about 6 weeks ago I fell and banged my head (forehead) instantly there was a big lump and cut. The bump kept growing and after a few days my whole forehead was swollen (including between my eyes). I then got a severe black eye. The bump finally began to reduce in size very slowly. I am now left with a little bump and a small dent. The dent is very sore to press. I am just wondering if this is normal or should it have healed by now? Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it could be a hematoma. Generally, it will settle by itself. As of now, you can apply ice packs for symptomatic relief.

If swelling persists better to consult a neurosurgeon and plan for a CT scan for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
