What Causes Swelling In The Gums After Wisdom Tooth Removal?

daughter-in-law had wisdom tooth removed (in pieces) by oral surgeon in April...has been having problems over the last 2 mos. with feeling a lump under area and warm sensation and swelling. Has had xrays, antibiotics etc. nothing helps. This weekend had 100.8 fever & felt something burst. Her Surgeon has sent her to dentists and another oral surgeon today but no one knows what to do. We are in Pgh, PA best of the best but they are mising something!

Hi....

Welcome to healthcare magic.

As per your complain you have problem of swelling at wisdom tooth extraction area with fever that indicate there is infection over it...
Take a IOPA of affected site to check any broken tooth portion is there or abcess or bony infection present or not...
Consult a oral surgeon for further treatment plan.
Antiinflamatory drugs and proper antibiotics course helpful in infection condition...
If any broken tooth portion is there than remove it from socket..
Treat underline cause.

I hope this will help you..
Get well soon..
Thank you.
