What Causes Swelling In The Hands And Feet?

I think I need a higher dosage of synthroid I believe it has given me peripheral neuropathy. My throat feels swollen, my hand and feet are swollen and I feel as if I am walking on pin and needles. I have developed carpal tunnel on both hands even though my right hand is much worst. Would a higher dosage help with these symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic

Bilateral carpet tunnel syndrome can be caused by hypothyroidism. If you are already on thyroid supplements, I would recommend checking your TSH, T3 and T4 levels to see if the dose of medication is adequate. Depending on the results, dose can be adjusted. If thyroid function is normal other possible causes like diabetes should be looked for.

Regards
Dr.Lekshmi
