What Causes Swelling In The Hands And Legs?

I do not have health insurance and haven t been to a doctor in 15 years. However I had a boil on my back and had to go ( couldn t reach it myself) the doctor nearly fell over when he saw my blood pressure, according to him the highest he had ever seen. It was 201 or something, he put me on Lisinopril, since I starting taking this medicine my hands swell up my skin gets real tight, my ankles also swell but not as bad. I told him about it and he prescribe another medicine, but that medicine costs to much money so I stay on Lisinopril. It doesn t seem to be working. I drink quite a bit, (whiskey) about half gallon a week. If I quit drinking will my blood pressure come down. Thanks, Me

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

That is less likely to have happened because it's not having much correlation. But if you wish you can stop that and continue an anti-hypertensive lifetime. It's for the prevention of vital organs damage so don't stop it by your self.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
