Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In The Index Finger And Pain Between Knuckles?
I have an extremely swollen index finger. Joints are not sore, nor is the tip. But in the middle of each knuckle it is extremely painful. I had an xray and no brakes. I also had blood tests to confirm arthritis or infection and that was ruled out. I woke with the pain one morning and over 2 weeks it slowly improved, only to return a week later, waking up in the morning feeling the pain more intense. This time the pain has increased and is quite uncomfortable and mobility is much less than last time.
If arthritis profile is negative I would suggest you please enumerate the full report There areconditions which may have missed out in the tests or are not included in tests. There are metabolic causes and systemic diseases which have to rule out.So please write your age, sex, history of past illness, family history. Bone scan for osteomyelitis may also be done for early bone infection not visible on plain xray As of now ,take cefixime 200 mg BD , combiflam TDSPC and write to us complete reports and complete blood count, serum studies if ,done already
