What Causes Swelling In The Jaw After A Root Canal Treatment?
i had root treatment yesterday, i now have a swelling in my jaw area, sort of underneath where the dentist injected anesthetic into the gum. I was originally at dentist on wed, had to go to emergency dentist last night as the pain was just unbearable, is the swelling anything to be worried about
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain swelling over the jaw after root canal treatment seems to be due to incomplete removal of infection leading to further flaring up of infection and causing swelling and pain..
The swelling will resolve once the access cavity of the root canal treated tooth will be re-opened and the canals will be cleaned and disinfected followed by placement of antiseptic dressing..
It will be followed by antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen for relief.. As of now take higher painkillers like Tramadol to relieve pain and do cool compresses over the cheek..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
