Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A knuckle on my right hand is very swollen and dis-colored. I do take Cumadin and that could explain the black and blue, It has gone about 5 inches up the inside of my are. What could be causing the shock like feelings I sometimes feel. I have no recollection of banging or hitting my hand. Thanks.
It can be a hematoma due to collection of blood underneath the skin.
You are more susceptible to develop hematoma as you are on blood thinner Coumadin.
As a first line of management you can apply ice packs for faster recovery, if the lesion persist or in case of rapid spread or increase in size, it is better o consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
