Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In The Legs After A Rotator Cuff Surgery?
I had rotator cuff repair on 4/10/18. Following surgery everything was normal, pain swelling etc. last night I noticed my feet and legs were very swollen and that has not gone down. I have a small rash like area on my neck and may be on the backside of the operates shoulder and under arm but, I cannot inspect those areas.
The rash on your neck and around the operative shoulder is probably due to a minor irritation from the adhesives of the plaster and the shoulder immobilizer you are using. You could use Lacto Calamine lotion for the same and Cetirizine if you have itching. With respect to the swollen legs, do get them evaluated. Renal function, liver function tests, and cardiology consultation. Also, evaluate for a deep vein thrombosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
