What Causes Swelling In The Legs And Ankles After An Abortion?

Hi Doctor. I had an abortion 6 days ago and have been bleeding on well with no cramps and no cause of alarm. However, my two legs are swollen around the ankle as early as morning and my hand figures too. I have gone for blood pressure tests, diabetes and any other infection and all in good health. My concern is the swelling of the legs. No pains at all. I was only 6weeks pregnant when I took the pills

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Swelling in legs 6 days after an abortion, does not fit under any disease pattern especially when your lab tests are normal.

I will suggest meeting a medicine specialist to assess cardiac function by chest x-ray PA view and echocardiography.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
