What Causes Swelling In The Lips After Receiving A Tetanus Booster Shot?
I m 30. I got a tetanus booster 3 days ago. The day after my shot I experienced swelling in my lips and both cheeks. Today I have a huge canker sore on the inside of my cheeks, the canker sore even extends to the outside of my mouth. I ve never experienced sores like this before. My doctor prescribed a steroid for the swelling but it s not helping. Suggestions?
Your symptoms are appearing to be due to Allergic Angioedema caused due to the tetanus booster shot. If the symptoms would have been restricted to swelling of the cheek and lips then it would not be a serious complication. But if you have started feeling of something struck in throat then it can be due to congestion which can further exaggerate to choking and difficulty in breathing.. So my sincere advise is to consult an Emergency room and get yourself examined so that the a proper examination can be done and you can be given proper anti-allergic medications and steroids [ if needed] to prevent complications.. For now you can take another dose of Zyrtec and consult an Emergency doctor..
Hope this information helps you..
Regards.
