What Causes Swelling In The Lips After Taking Benadryl?

My 4 year old daughter last night had rash from amoxicillin . She still tonight have rash after I give to her the second dose of Benadryl and she has swelling lips .She was very discomfort and now she sleeping. Do I have to bring her right way to the emergency room.

Thanks for the query..

Your daughter has symptoms of antibiotic allergy after taking amoxicillin and swollen lips are also due to allergic angioedema of lips..
If she does not have any problem in breathing, swallowing,swollen tongue or any other symptoms then you need not to worry and continue to give her benadryl and do cool compresses on her lips to help in reducing swelling..
But in case if you find any disturbing symptoms then you should immediately take her to emergency room..
Another thing to note is that immediately stop giving her amoxicillin and give plenty of water so that the antibiotic gets removed from the body quickly..
