What Causes Swelling In The Lower Jaw After Extraction Of Wisdom Tooth?
i have just gotten my wisdom teeth removed and its my second day healing. The swelling has gone up but the bleeding has mostly stopped. i Am concerned for the left side of my lower jaw, it feels more swollen and when i took a better look at it which a small light, it was very bruised but only on that one area. i am gussing thats normal but there is weird white build up around it and i poked it with my tongue once or twice to see if its food. and i dont know if i should get rid of it or try to brush it away? also one more thing, i wear a clear retainer only at night on my top teeth. Im afraid to put it in because i am afraid it will messs with the stitches. what should i do? thank you so much for the reply. -Alex.
As per your complain if you have swelling and slight bruising and as it is just second day of healing you need not to worry about it as it is due to inflammation and will resolve gradually in a week.. Do cool compresses over the swelling.. Secondly some white around the extraction site can be deposits of food or medication and you can do warm saline gargles to remove it.. Avoid using brush in that area to prevent any injury to extraction site.. Avoid wearing retainer as of now as for 3 to 4 days till there is sufficient healing and then after follow up with your dentist start wearing the same.. Continue with medications and post operative instructions that must be advised to you by your dentist to prevent infection, relieving swelling and pain and initiate faster healing..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
