Swelling of the legs would mean that you have fluid overload which can occur from a kidney involvement or from a congestive heart failure in people with diabetes. Though you have not mentioned it , may I assume that your blood pressure is normal ? This calls for investigations. After a clinical examination, I would investigate my patients with a CBC, a serum creatinine and a urine for proteiuria. If these are normal you would require a chest x-ray to see if there is any enlargement of the heart. These are tests that can be done in most places. Your doctor could help you. I shall be happy to answer any further queries. Hope you will get better soon with proper diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Noble Zachariah
