What Causes Swelling In The Neck And Face While On Dialysis?

my adult daughter is on dialysis. Her fistula wasn t working as well as it should. The Dr. found an area in her shoulder that had been stented had closed up. He put in another stent, leaving the first one. Since the procedure, my daughters neck and face have been swelling. They did cat scans but found nothing. What could be causing this swelling to her neck and face area. It is making it difficult for her to swallow at times also.

Hello,

Swelling in the cheek and the face may be due to fluid retention or lymphatic oedema or overnutrition of the limb or thrombosis of axillary vein etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please get it done colour doppler of upper limb, CT angiogram if upper limb.

Please consult your nephrologist/vascular surgeon they will examine and treat you accordingly.
