What Causes Swelling In The Pelvic Area When Diagnosed With Genital HPV Infection?
Hello, I ve been diagnosed with Genital HPV after a pap exam, and apparently I have inflammation on my pelvic area. I m getting a colposcopy on Monday, so they gave me some pill (antibiotics doxiciclina 100mg) to deal with the inflammation. My question is if there is the possibility I have chlamidia (or if that would have come out on the pap result), since I ve read that is linked with Pelvic inflammation. I also have some circumvallate papillae and I m worried this means I have oral HPV too. I was wondering if oral HPV can be tested and how could it be tested. Thanks in advance!
Generally, there is no test that can identify oral HPV in asymptomatic patients. As long as you have no local oral lesions, it is impossible to diagnose oral HPV. As for chlamydia infection, it does not generally show in the pap smear and a proper examination of the cervical secretions for chlamydia is needed to rule it out.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
