What Causes Swelling In The Scrotum While Recovering From Pneumonia?
my quadriplegic husband is in the hospital just getting over pneumonia. in the third week his scrotum and penis have become very swollen. the doc said it was lack of protein in his diet but I cant find any info out there to support that. what is your opinion?
Swelling of the penis & scrotum commonly occurs due to infection or testicular torsion. You are suggested to visit ER, get a urinalysis, CBC, urethral swab test, USG if required to rule out infections.
He should be physically examined to evaluate acute inflammation & swelling due to increased fluid, hydrocele, hernia, etc.
In the meantime, he can take acetaminophen (Tylenol) for relieve.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
