What Causes Swelling In The Temple Region After Injury?
Hello, I m an mma fighter i was sparring last week and I got elbowed on right temple there was swelling. As well as anytime i open my mouth to bite on food it would intensify. My head hurts a bit now. Like putting pressure on that side or opening my mouth big to bite. It looks slightly swollen. But i dont know what to do
I can understand your concern. It seems that when you got injured in the temple area, you have broken the zygomatic bone that is in the cheek area or developed a crack in it.
In that case, it is usually seen that the patients develop swelling in the temple and it always hurt to open the mouth as the fracture or crack restricts mouth opening.
I would advise you to visit an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for the clinical examination of the injury and investigations such as x-ray and CT Scan of the area to diagnose presence of any such bone injuries. Treatment can be discussed after the investigations and diagnosis.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
