Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In The Throat And Difficulty In Swallowing?
I have a swollen throat and a little trouble swallowing. I had surgery on my throat 3 years ago through the front of my neck to clean up calcification on my spine due to RA in my spine. My throat has been sensitive since the surgery and I can t tolerate anything tight around my neck. No fever, just a swollen feeling and uncomfortable. Could this be scar tissue built up?
With the given history, we just can't jump into a diagnosis and say yes this is the correct one and treat. We need to investigate you thoroughly to say what is it. First, you get your endoscopy done to know what is there inside which is obstruction you to swallow. If they found any scar tissue there then it's obvious, there could be tumors, oesophageal spasm, etcetera many more which can cause this condition. So thorough investigation will help us.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
