My husband just got out of hospital as he had a reaction (throat swelling and tongue swelling) to enalopril He has been on this for over 10 years. However he is on Chemo affinitor pills as well since may 2016 The doctor at Methodist hospital, San Antonio, Tx, took him off Enalapril and now prescribed Cozaar. (which is the HCTZ of enalapril) so pharmacy, today sept 1, 2016, says no one can tell you if it is enalapril or HCTZ that does the swelling so they said no to his Cozarr after contacting his dr, and told him to get new blood pressure medicine from his primary Dr which it is Labor day weekend. Is there a safe blood pressure medicine of a different family of these that do one cause swelling of the tongue and throat? Is that true no one knows if its enalapril or HCTZ which specific ingredient that causes the swelling?
