What Causes Swelling In The Tongue With White Spots?

Hello I experience for a few day a little swelling of my tongue. I started with a scratch throat, that lead to a sniffles, running nose, cough. I immediately started taking enchinea to stop n it did n then I was having difficulty swollowing with a little chest pain. So I took some Zantac I feel better with that. But I'm still having a little white on my tongue and my tongue looks like some bit the my tongue in little areas. I've been brush with salt because it hurts

Thanks for the query..

As per your complain white coating on the tongue along with pain and discomfort on brushing can be due to fungal infection over the tongue known as Oral Thrush.

In case if it is in the form of painful pimple like white spots on tongue it can be due to Apthous ulcers or Canker sores..

You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and if Thrush is confirmed as diagnosis the Physician can advise you to take antifungal medicines like Fluconazole or Itraconazole orally..
Nystatin mouthwash and clotrimazole lozenges can be advised..
Taking more of probiotics like Yoghurt and Garlic will help in faster clearing of fungus..
Drink plenty of water to prevent Dry mouth that is common in Thrush and chemotherapeutic agents intake..

In case of canker sores taking Vitamin B complex, applying Lidocaine gel over the sores, ding warm saline gargles and taking a soft diet can help..
